Did you know that Andes, NY is nicknamed the "Land in the Sky" because of its high elevation and location tucked into the western Catskill Mountains?

While the phrase captures the town's lofty, picturesque nature, it is a well-known local moniker that highlights its position among the rolling hills and panoramic mountain vistas that define the region. The area is celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, which is perhaps best experienced from its various high-elevation trails, such as the Andes Rail Trail and Palmer Hill Trail, both of which offer breathtaking views that help the town live up to its name.
