Did you know a local business in Andes was sometimes referred to as “the original Hogan’s Hero?”
The business was located at 103 Main Street in Andes, which has historically been the site of the town's general store. It was built around 1950. The property was the quintessential country store, known as Hogan's General Store. In its original form, the store was a hub of activity, offering:
Gas pumps (the only ones in the hamlet).
A full deli and bakery, with a pizzeria and take-out food.
General groceries and basic household supplies.
Soft-serve ice cream and "penny candy."
A large apartment above the store
The store, while still associated with the name Hogan's General Store, closed its doors in June 2014. Its closure was a significant event for the small Delaware County community, which relied on it for basic necessities. Dana’s Place resides in the back of the building today.
